Teachable Pricing Plans

So how much does Teachable cost? Teachable offers three pricing plans with a variety of features for every budget:

1. Basic: $39/month or $29/month with an annual subscription

2. Professional: $119/month or $99/month with an annual subscription

3. Business: $299/month or $249/month with an annual subscription

Teachable Pricing Plans

Key Features of All Plans

All Teachable pricing plans include these great features:

  • Unlimited video
  • Unlimited courses
  • Unlimited students
  • Unlimited hosting
  • Integrated sales pages and payment gateway
  • Student account management
  • Discussion forums
  • Basic quizzes
  • No fees on free courses

Does Teachable Have a Free Plan?

Teachable no longer offers an entirely free plan. Teachable does offer a 14-day free trial of their Professional Plan, and you don't need to provide a credit card to get it.

You will have access to all of the features of this plan—sort of. You can create and set up your school, but you can't publish it (and you won't be able to sell any products) until you upgrade.

If you don't upgrade by the end of the 14-day trial, Teachable disables your school. You can't change any of your content or publish your course.

Teachable will "hold" your school for 90 days, during which time you can upgrade. After 90 days, Teachable will delete your content.

Who the Basic Plan is Best For:

If you're brand new to selling online courses, looking to create and sell only a few courses, or if you're working on a tight budget, $39 a month is an attractive price.

Key Features of the Basic Plan:

In addition to the features all of Teachable's pricing plans come with, here are the key features you get with the Teachable Basic Plan:

  • Custom domain name for your school
  • Course promotional coupon generator
  • Integrated affiliate marketing program
  • Built-in email marketing system
  • Third-party integrations
  • Drip course content (so you can deliver courses over time)
  • Two admins for your school
  • Customer support via email

What's Not Great?

There are some important (and not so great) things you need to know about Teachable's Basic Plan:

  • There is a 5% transaction fee for every course you sell
  • You don't have immediate access to your revenue
  • You're required to offer a 30-day refund policy

Bottom Line:

The Basic Plan is great if you're just starting out, are only planning to sell a handful of courses, or are just using the income for a little extra cash. The Teachable features are hard to beat at $39 a month.

Small businesses or solopreneurs might not like waiting for Teachable payments due to the Basic Plan's 30-day refund policy. Teachable holds the funds during the refund period and only deposits the payment after a student doesn't request a refund.

And that 5% transaction fee becomes a big deal once you're selling enough Teachable courses that your monthly transaction fees add up to $99. Then it's time to upgrade to the Professional Plan, which just so happens to be $99.

Who the Professional Plan is Best For:

If you're serious about selling online courses as a primary source of income, Teachable's Professional Plan is what you're looking for. It's also Teachable's most popular plan—and for good reason.

Key Features of the Professional Plan:

Here are the key advanced features you get with the Pro Plan (in addition to the features you get with every Teachable pricing plan):

  • Instant payout with PayPal and Stripe integration
  • NO transaction fees
  • Optional refund policy
  • Live chat support
  • Graded quizzes
  • Advanced creator customization with Teachable's "Power Editor"
  • Advanced reporting/analytics
  • Unbranded website
  • Bulk import students
  • Course completion certificates
  • Up to 5 admins
  • Affiliate marketing tools
  • Landing page builder

Bottom Line:

Teachable's Pro Plan is just that: for professionals selling courses like hotcakes. With no transaction fees, no waiting for your cash, and an optional refund policy, your pocketbook is happy.

And with an unbranded website, you get rid of all of Teachable's branding texts and logos, so it looks like you're running your own show. Nice.

Plus, you can award your students certificates of completion, so they feel a sense of accomplishment after taking your course. And that's great for your marketing as they spread the word about how awesome your courses are!

Who the Business Plan is Best For:

Teachable's Business Plan is designed for high volume and comes with an equally high price! That's why it's best for larger, established businesses with lots of employees (admins, course creators, etc.).

Key Features of the Business Plan:

In addition to everything Teachable's Pro Plan has to offer, their Business Plan includes these options;

  • Up to 100 admins
  • Manual student imports
  • Bulk student enrollments
  • Custom user roles
  • Group coaching calls
  • Customer support

Bottom Line:

If you're a large business and need multiple administrators or online course creators who need to upload course content, then the Business Plan is well worth the expense.

Alternatives to Teachable

There are a lot of online course platforms available, so there is no shortage of a viable Teachable alternative. Some names include Thinkific, Kajabi, and Xperiencify, to name a few. Check out our list of Teachable alternatives.

His latest project is Xperiencify -- a new LMS / online course platform that fixes the "dirty secret" of the online course industry (which is that 3% of people get results from the course they buy.) They do it with a powerful combination of psychology 🧠, gamification 🕹️ and Silicon Valley "black magic". 🥷
